After much deliberations, I have decided to join Johnson School of Business @ Cornell University. I was offered admission @ Tepper for a 2 year program but somehow 1 year program seemed a better fit. So I am all excited and have started the prep work to quit my job ...woohooo !! . Getting ready to pack my bags and move to Ithaca for a year. Really looking forward to meeting my future classmates and life long friends @ Cornell during Destination Johnson weekend (04/11/08 - 04/13/08)

Breaking the cycle of Poverty
Kashmir once a prosperous valley, now seems to be in shambles from violence, neglect and corruption. I firmly believe that transformation of any society is tightly coupled with quality education opportunities available, an essential factor to break the cycle of poverty and corruption which plagues once prosperous valley of Kashmir. I would like to contribute to KEI, even with small measures to make this noble effort of my brethren a success.
Good job KEI team and keep the good work going.

Globalization
When I was growing up in developing India, my Dad always use to say , there would be a day when people would snatch food from you and how true that has turned out to be ... India is the backoffice of the world today and there is a huge talent pool but are we empowering the people below the middle class?People still dont have resources to move up to middle class. Why?? ... We need to do some introspection and realize that we look at all the metropolitian cities and think that we have come a long way and world realizes india's potential but what about 90% of india's population which is under-empowered. Efforts are being made bt NGO who are working at the grass root level but the effort needs to be done at the local government level.Education, healtcare,transportation...
I always believed and still believe India is a self sufficient country but where is india's self sufficience taking us ...we are consuming more power, more energy ...need is growing. Indian political system is still corrupt and need of the time is to strive for the system where common man is not struggling under corrupt polititians, need of the hour is for young blood to take charge in the political realm.
Empowerment has to come at the grass root level and requires sustained empowerment....Education for everyone should be must...Every effort has to be made to educate the future of India.
I dont any logic behind some people believing in the state of uttar pradesh in India that "polio drops" contains something which will sterile their young ones. How rediculous?? If this goes on , this disease is going to make a comeback before its relaized....
Think about going forward and not going backwards....

India's Partition? WHY?????

Do we want to see India's partition again. I still remember the mandal days , I was in 10 grade when we all participated in he demonstrations to protest the Quota system for SC/ST's. I ask WHY????? Why do we have to have a quota system , on what basis .....is on the mere basis of social uplifment of the so called backward classes or for the benefit of the vote bank. Why cant we provide scholarships, aid etc to the backward class students rather then reserving seats for them by default without any merit. I remember when I was competing for a place at Delhi College of engineering , I scored 330 out of 720 and I was offered Civil Engineering and that too after being waitlisted, on the other hand somebody who scored 10 out of 720 and was a ST got place in electronics stream, I ask is it fair !!!!, is this justice!!!. Just cos I was not SC/ST/OBC I did not deserve to be there. It so unfair.
In this highly competitive world where things change everywhere we have still not gotten freedom even after more than 50 years , mentally we are still stuck with the quota system.
I sincerely support the students and doctors who are on strike cos somebody needs to raise a voice, somebody needs to take action.
I dont have anything against SC/ST/OBC's , if they are socially downtrodden, give them aid, scholarships but let them compete with other fellow citizens of the free India.

What is Phishing and Pharming?
Phishing attacks use both social engineering and technical subterfuge to steal consumers' personal identity data and financial account credentials. Social-engineering schemes use 'spoofed' e-mails to lead consumers to counterfeit websites designed to trick recipients into divulging financial data such as credit card numbers, account usernames, passwords and social security numbers. Hijacking brand names of banks, e-retailers and credit card companies, phishers often convince recipients to respond. Technical subterfuge schemes plant crimeware onto PCs to steal credentials directly, often using Trojan keylogger spyware. Pharming crimeware misdirects users to fraudulent sites or proxy servers, typically through DNS hijacking or poisoning.

Rang De Basanti ( Paint it Yellow)
Rang de Basanti - what an awesome movie, very thought provoking, It has a very strong message for todays young Indian generation. Change can happen but we as the youth of today need to take the first step for the revoltuion to start.
Indian youth wants change , change from corruption. I think with largest young generation in the world, India would lead the way.

It worked!!!. We soldered the wires and here we go . Now we have to put all the assembly into a box for demo. Next meeting is on Saturday March 5th Noon.
Feb 19 Meeting
We met today and myself and David worked on figuring out how to make the 2 crickets communicate and then made it work with Java interface.
<>Tasks Completed:
1) Make 2 crickets communicate with each other.
2) Make 2 crickets communicate with each other via Java GUI
Cricket 1 (Receive commands from Java GUI and sends commands to Cricket 2)
to sender
send 76
send sensora >> This sends data back to cricket from Sensor A
send 83
send switchb >>> This sends data back to cricket from Switch B
<>waituntil [newir?] >> Cricket waits for new input from the java code
if ir = 1 [send 3] >> when cricket 1 receives the ir=1, it sends out ir=3 to cricket 2
if ir = 2 [send 4] >> when cricket 1 receives the ir=2,it sends out ir=4 to cricket 2
when [switchb] [send 5]
sender
end
Cricket2 (Receive commands from Cricket1) - a is motor , b is LED
to doit
waituntil [newir?]
beep
if ir = 3 [a, onfor 10]

Printing the Poster - 02/28/2004
Printing the poster seemed to be an easy task initially but turned out to be really tough one to achieve, Ajahne sent me the poster and I tried printing it out but the plotter ran out out memory , it took be more than one hour to figure it out how to print the poster and it came out pretty well. I was excited and called Ajahne to tell him and he was happy too.
Meeting on Feb 22
We discussed about the poster outline
The poster presentation is divided into the following,
-Overview - Gives simply overview of the products used and what we will achieve at the end of the project.

Hands on Cricket
Yesterday I had hands on experience with cricket, After the Comp 171 HCI Class I went to TUI lab and started working on cricket, trying trying ti figure out how it works. Soon the whole project team joined and we divided into two groups , one groups started working on Tablet as we have to use the tablet with cricket, Myself, David and Lynda started working on cricket and it was fun, we spent time making cricket do somethings like running a motor, making the LED go on and reversing the direction of running motor. It was really a very good experience and we all had a great time . Next time when we meet we will work on the design of what we need to do for the project.
